Mount Rainier National Park - Washington
July 29-31, 2010
I was excited about this trip to the famed Mount Rainier to capture the plethora of wildflowers. After doing a lot of research on the area and finding the typical peak season, I booked my flight. However, it turns out we were several weeks early.
This was my first photography backpacking trip shared with three other people and we planned for a four-day/three-night excursion. But, the mountain had a very wet spring and there was plenty of snow still covering the meadows where the majority of the flowers would be found. So, we changed our trip to stay around Sunrise park where it was dryer.
We ended up coming back one day early because we realized we were not in shape for the additional planned 11+ miles.

A calm evening reflects the majestic Mount Rainier.
Sitting at camp watching the sky change, the moon rise lit the clouds to create this scene.
Wild flowers in a meadow of the park.
The sunset light created a red glow of the mountain and the reflection was caught in a tarn.
