Lake Isabelle - Colorado
June 28, 2008
Michael and I left the Broomfield, CO area at 3:00am in order to hit the trailhead to Lake Isabelle by 4:00am. We aimed to reach the lake by sunrise (~5:30am) and it was a very empty park at that hour.
We were quite surprised to see how much snow was still around in that area considering it's summer now. But, the lake was very still (half frozen though) which made for some nice reflections. Once the sun came up, fog was formed for a few minutes around the area. We even saw a few marmots. It was a nice trip and glad we went up early because the parking lot was full when we got back down later that morning.
Once I got home to process my pictures I realized I shot this entire series at ISO 400. Doh!

Traditionally, Lake Isabelle has rough waters from the wind, but this June sunrise revealed a calmness at the lake giving a rather lovely reflection.
