Wide Riverbed
Great Sand Dunes National Park, Colorado
With the snow runoff in the Spring, Medano Creek saturates the sand at the base of the dunes thus causing the water to flow on top rather than below like it does throughout the rest of the year. Also, because of the constantly shifting sand, the creek features waves which is very unique to this area. Photo taken in July 2008.
